I think coming originally from 11m it was a natural proression that once I got my license that 10m would have some sort of added attraction to it than other bands, (well for me anyway) or maybe it was simply that my first year on the air would be restricted to a 10m vertical antenna ground mounted and a 10m dipole in the loft, those are the only antennas I could really fit in the garden, (although I later managed to persuade a half size G5RV that my little garden was  nice place for it to be)
as I mentioned before, having purchase a brand new FT-757GX the money for a power supply simply wasnt available so the next best thing was purchased, a cheap 12v car battery which would live under the desk and be trickle charged when not in use (hey it got me on the air) to conserve my precious power I restricted the 757 to 10 watts and then proceeded to kick ass on the 10m band (ok not really) to get the best bang for buck (as our american cousins say) I decided to try and hone my newly found CW skills, it was hard going but for the majority of the first year or so I did a lot on 10m CW, I also with the aid of the 10m (Ex CB) vertical worked a lot of 10FM and got to know the locals in the process
